The goraw desserts story

Our humble roots began in the home kitchen, where meals were frequently shared with friends and family. For us, food is a way to meaningfully connect and the centre of conversation. The original concept of organic mousse started from a decision to try and make better and healthier food choices. With my European upbringing, most of the food whilst full of flavour contained heavier and sugary elements which wasn’t conducive of a healthy lifestyle – and so, goraw dessert was born. The creation of a healthier dessert alternative was shared with friends and family and it was an absolute hit. At the time, with a little research, I discovered that nothing quite like it existed in the market; a vegan dessert full of nutrient-rich and certified organic ingredients that doesn’t skimp on taste. We ran the first goraw stall at the local farmers markets on the Gold Coast which started us on our growth journey to become a household name both online and in stores.

About goraw desserts Founder, Andrej Maletic

As an immigrant to Australia, Andrej has worked hard and with incredible passion to build a successful dessert business from his home on the Gold Coast. Andrej is driven by a purpose to create healthier choices that are wholesome and better for you, without comprising on the taste or the satisfaction of eating good food.

His entrepreneurial journey started with mousse and now expands into other healthy foods. He has found a love for quality handmade products and finds value in being relatable and authentic. Andrej realised he was onto a product that consumers resonated with after attending the Mind Body Spirit (MBS) Festival in and soon after, goraw desserts rapidly became a household name.

For Andrej, his first proud moment with goraw desserts was when he walked into a health food store and saw his products in the fridge on display. Since then, Andrej’s commitment to his purpose has seen goraw desserts grow from a stall at a local market to distribution across the Australian eastern seaboard.

goraw has been recognised as a leader in the organic mousse market, with the brand being selected by the Queensland Government as a scholarship recipient for the Future Food accelerator program. Through this, Andrej has built relationships with leading companies whom he continues to partner and collaborate with to this day.

Today, Andrej spends much of his time growing the goraw desserts brand. He still finds joy in the production when he isn’t involved in the financials, marketing and logistics. But for Andrej, it is the culture and unwavering support from his team who share his vision that keeps him driven day in, day out.

In his spare time, Andrej enjoys scuba diving, Muay Thai and staying active while enjoying the outdoors on motorbike rides. He finds serenity through meditation, breathwork and float therapy and is curious about mindfulness and psychology often spending time on reflection and personal development.

Our Ethos

Everyone loves to treat themselves – it gives us a moment of satisfaction and for some it can be the highlight of their day. For goraw, to be the one who creates that little bit of joy in a day for someone, is the most rewarding feeling.  

Food and treats have a different meaning to every person, so for us, we want to bring ‘good’ flavour to everyone by changing the stigma about health foods, whole foods, and organic foods and how goraw can fulfil the sweet treat needs of everyone.

At the end of the day, if our customers have a WOW moment when they try our products, we’ve done our job.

At goraw desserts, we know that eating healthy takes discipline and effort, but we believe that it shouldn’t have to. We also know that sometimes eating healthy can mean tasteless, but it shouldn’t be. Worst of all, healthy usually means time-consuming, and realistically who wants to spend all their time preparing food!

We understand that convenience is important, but we know that many of the fast and convenient options available to us are filled with harmful ingredients (Fillers, MSGs, GMOs and chemically processed colours) that can be toxic to our bodies.

So with all this in mind we at goraw desserts are striving to make eating cleaner foods, tastier and more convenient than ever before.

We are proud to say that we have developed a delicious and nutritious product that people can trust and enjoy. We hope to overcome the taste stigma of traditionally ‘healthy foods’, so that even the biggest dessert junkie’s will be hooked. While still providing our bodies with the nourishment and goodness from wholesome, pure, organic ingredients. Best of all, they are conveniently packed, so you can eat them on the go, put them in the kid’s lunchboxes, use them as a post work out snack or simply enjoy them as an indulgent dessert.
